What you should know

Everything the CambriLearn CAPS programme includes.

  • A CAPS curriculum delivered through CambriLearn, computer-based, with video lessons that can be watched as many times as needed.

  • Nothing needs explaining later. A National Senior Certificate needs no evaluation, no verification letter and no conversation with an admissions officer.

  • With a bachelor’s pass, a student applies to any South African university on the same footing as every school-going matriculant.

  • The door back to a mainstream school stays open. Because this is the national curriculum, a student can return without repeating a year or scrambling to catch up on unfamiliar content. No other route here offers that.

  • A good deal of written paperwork is done alongside the videos, and all exams are paper-based.

  • Offered in both Afrikaans and English.

  • As a CambriLearn affiliate, every student from Grade 1 to Grade 9 receives a 50% discount.

  • Grade 10 to 12 combines the online lessons with Zoom chats and live lessons.

  • Tasks and exams are marked externally by CambriLearn staff, and final exams are written through SACAI.

What this route asks of you

This is the most demanding of the three programmes, and it is only fair to say so plainly before you enrol rather than in the middle of Grade 11.

The exam calendar does not bend

The lessons are self-paced, but the SACAI examinations are not. A student who is ready early still waits for the sitting, and a student who falls behind after an illness or a hard term has to make the work up before it, because the date does not move.

It is seven or more subjects, not four

That is a real workload. For a learner who is already 17 and out of step with their grade, finishing this way can take longer than they can afford. If that describes your family, read the GED page before you enrol here.

Examination fees are extra in the final year

The fee above covers tutoring and the programme licence. SACAI examination fees are payable in the matric year and are passed on to you at cost, with nothing added.
